LCD resolution issue

Hi guys,

I have just gone from an ATI X600 PCI-e video card, to a BFG 6800GT OC PCI-e video card.

When I was using the X600, I was running 2 screens:

1) 22" Viewsonic P225fb CRT at 2048x1536 @ 75Hz on the VGA output,
2) BenQ 23" LCD at its' native resolution on 1920x1200 @ 60Hz on the DVI output

Since installing the nVidia 6800GT OC, the Viewsonic is running at the same resolution, but the LCD cannot go any higher than 1600x1200. It's not an option to go higher!

This is in WinXP SP2 with all the latest patches, and the latest nVidia drivers.

I am also running Vista on this rig, and I can run the LCD at 1920x1200 in it (no change from the ATI card).

Any ideas why this is?

Is the BFG 6800GT OC limited to 1600x1200 over DVI in WinXP? The ATI X600 clearly was not.

TIA,

Ed

So I switch the LCD to the VGA (with an VGA cable), and put the CRT on the DVI port (with a DVI-VGA adapter).

In this configuration, I can choose anything up to 2048x1536 for either display. Now the CRT looks fine at 2048x1536 on the DVI port with the VGA adapter. But the LCD on the VGA port looks like sh|te at ANY resolution.

This is crap!

I can't believe that there might be a limitation of the 6800GT on the DVI port.

I have double and triple checked the stats of my LCD and YES it has a native resolution of 1920x1080. I am also using the .inf for my LCD. Even I I remove that, and go with Plug-n-Play monitor, I get the same limitation.

Arrrrggghhhh

I'm back, and I'm in Vista.

Hmmmph, 1920x1200. That's odd:roll:

Well, I pray Vista RC2 is stable enough for my daily 'puting 🙂

If only I could get the surround sound to work properly!

Thanks for everyone's help😛
