LCD Refresh Rates...

Is there any reason, other than gaming, to have the refresh rate set higher than 60hz on an LCD?

I can't say that I do too much PC gaming, and I figured I'd ask to see if it made any significant difference. So far it looks the same to me, but I just wanted to know!

Thanks! 🙂

LCD or CRT?

I was working in a computer lab that was full of CRT's a couple of semester's ago and all I could see was what looked like the vibration of all of the ones that were set @ 60hz. Annoyed the hell out of me - of course now they're all 17" LCD's, but still...😀

Edit: flickering - that's what I meant...not vibrating! 🙂

For me, at first, 75Hz looked better. But now I just leave it this way to keep the picture centered 🙂.

Yeah, going from 60-75 doesn't seem to make any noticeable difference to me at all.

Maybe if I were gaming it would be a different picture, but that's not the case.

Thanks! 🙂

For whatever reason both of my LCD/video card combos give the clearest font at 60hz, absolutely contrary to the CRT mindset. LCDs: Hitachi CM174... and NEC 1530. Video cards: Ati 9800 and 9200. 70,72,and 75 look clear as mud, don't know the mechanics behind it, but do know that 60 is delightful.

Same for me, essentially. 60Hz looks beautiful on my 19" 191T (LCD); 70/72/75 Hz looks the same, maybe even a tad worse.

I don't think it even really does anything (changing to above 60Hz) when you are on a DVI connection; I think it stays synched at 60Hz.
