LCD refresh rate?

Do LCD panels monitors have refresh rate? I have heard from some that they dont, but some say they do. In the spec sheet, some list refresh rates. Someone please clarify this for me? Thank you in advance.

I had to look to see that I was in OT . . . perhaps this is better suited for "general".

Anyway, their refresh rate is generally 60hz. Tomshardware has an excellent recent article comparing LCDs.

Mine gets to 70Hz without a problem, however 75 is way too much.

Mine gets 75 fine, but I've seen anything from 60-75 refresh rates.

LCDs do have a "refresh rate", as in how many times per second a new screen image is sent to the display. However, since because of the technology the pixels don't have to be "refreshed" constantly, they don't have any problems with flickering even at 60Hz.

Planar gets 75 as well. It actually likes 75Hz better than 60Hz.

Thank you, that was the information I was looking for. I was concerned about "refresh rate" and flicker on the LCD, but apparently, there is no flicker.

Very easy way to compare. Take a digital camera with a LCD or a video camera. Stick it up to a CRT monitor, a TV, then a LCD...LCD shows no flicker =)
