LCD question

I'm currently using a nice (but aging) CRT at home, it's a Viewsonic 17" that barely fits underneath the hutch on my desk. I need to keep the hutch, and I'm wanting to move up to an LCD display. If I have about 16.5" total to work with, what models/sizes/mounting features should I be looking at?

Good thread here for you ,with a 17" LCD you actually get 17" viewable size, the Hitachi and Viewsonic models in that thread are both good,I would also look at the NEC 1760NX as well.

As for size I would look at the dimension specs of each model from their website, that`ll tell you if it`ll fit or not.

To give you an idea,my Samsung 191T(19" model) has width of about 16.5 " and height about 17.5".

Can you adjust your stand to carry the screen a little lower, so the bottom of the screen is closer to the top of the surface it's sitting on? I understand different models are adjustable to different degrees - I'd just hate to drop $700 on a new LCD to find it's not quite adjustable enough to fit under my hutch...

I think that`s about lowest setting on mine,if I was you I would go to the stores with my tape measure 😉.
