hey all,

so i finally decided on an lcd and ordered the hercules prophet 920 pro dvi (i live in the US too, and they had free shipping from the hercules direct store incase anyone is interested).

anyways, it works great except for one thing. there is a patch of light/whiteness at the top of the panel. i do not know if this is normal at all. you can only notice it when the screen is a bit dark but that is quite often when playing games.

To describe how it looks, it looks almost as if there is a thing long light stuck on the very top of the panel causing the top half inch or so to be brighter than everything else.

any thoughts on this? i plan on calling tech support tomorrow (not open today, methinks) but i dont know if i should believe them if they tell me "oh, that's normal."

thanks!

Sounds like the backlight along the top is either too bright, or the panel is misaligned or the monitor sucks. It's got to be one of those three.

I sent tech support an email. Hopefully they can tell me what I should do.

Also, maybe I should start a new topic for this but, when I am looking at an entirely white screen it almost looks as if the screen is slightly dirty. Does anyone know what I mean by this and is it normal? I think it is actually just the nature of the soft screen that covers the actual panel, but it gives the appearance of a very very fine layer of dust over the screen that you can only notice if you pay close attention to sections of white.

thanks.
