LCD prices to fall?

MotionMan

A friend of mine is planning on buying an LCD TV, but he is holding off because said he has heard/read that LCD TV prices are suppose to dip in a couple weeks. I have no idea what he is talking about and he cannot remember where he heard/read about it.

BTW, we are talking about an abnormally large dip, not your normal price reduction that occurs with any technology as time goes on.

Has anyone else heard/read this? If so, linky?

Since I am possibly in the market for a LCD TV soon, this is of some interest to me.

i actually heard that sometime soon (next few weeks) that sony would be dropping their prices by up to 50% on TVs to help gain dominance in the TV market. ill try to find you that article.

50%? That's ridiculous.

In any case, if you have about 2K, the Samsung 46" 650 series got some really good reviews. Only problem is it has a red bezel, which some people don't like.

Um, I seriously doubt sony will be dropping it's prices on current TV's by 50%. Maybe a smaller drop on when sony's new sets come out.

I was at Best Buy and I notice prices were down last week from a few weeks back. But they are constantly dropping slowly. I too am thinking of buying one.

I heard Sony was cutting 10%-20%. Sounds like there'll be some good year-end deals, which is when I was planning on finally buying a nice, big HDTV.

Seems like it may be true. I'm eyeballing a Sony 40" 1080p with a PS3 and professional install for 1699. When looking up the TV on amazon, and other places online, the TV is averaging around 1899 alone in price.

Seeing as I don't know squat about TV's though, I'm wondering if the TV is any good... see this thead for the details, as I'd like a few opinions on it *I'll be buying this weekend

Well with the economy is the dumps consumers will have less money to spend on things like TV's so to be able to sell their products they are going to have to lower the prices or end up with excess inventory they won't be able to move when the newer and better TV's come out.

I read on AVS that the cost of the panels is expected to climb big time by July.

So maybe they are cutting prices on close outs or something.

Wish Sony still made the A3000 lcos. But they could not make $1500 a set on that one like they do on the LCD screens.
