LCD Power

the best thing to do is to just shut it off . . . i dont think it uses NO power, but it will only use about 1W or less (depending on which LCD)

if you leave it on, then it wont use as much power as a CRT, but it will still use power

depends, if you got a screen saver goin then I'm sure it should be fine but if not then NO! Left my computer settings so that the monitor would shut off after an hour or 2 and I guess that wasn't quick enough because I now I have 'burn in of the start menu taskbar. If you have either a screen saver or a way for it to turn off (off is best) then you should be a ok.

As far as I have ever understood, LCD's don't "burn in" and that is only a CRT thing.. So he should have no worries about this. What I have always though is; appliances are rated for number of hours running until there should be a capacitor blown or another electrical problem, so I just turn my LCD off in hopes that it will increase the lifetime of it.

I put my 2001FP in power-save mode after half an hour, just to save the lighting element. The screen goes dead, but it is awoken when I move the mouse or hit a key.

Well I have a blank screen saver that kicks in and then 10 min after that my monitor goes to standby or sleep mode. I just wanted to know what was better for it. I didn't want it to go dead by leaving it on all the time.

Quick question? are you planning on keeping it for your whole life? sure, it will cut back a couple years of the lifespan (prob will upgrade like most of us soon enough?)....so i just keep an atractive slideshow as a screensaver on my hp23ws
