LCD or CRT?

i am seriosuly having a hard time telling if text looks any better on a LCD. it does look much better than a crappy 17'' CRT i picked up from the dumpster however. same goes for eye strain, no trouble at all with the diamondtron despite heavy usage (12+ hours a day)

i play cs i would say everyday for long periods of time on a crt my background it white. box colors are white. contrast 100% britness 100% i got no problem with britness.

I have 3 LCD's and say NO MO to CRTs. More space, easier on the eyes and pretty good colour (although not as solid as CRT but good enough for most work)

i just want to know if i am a hardcore gamer should i get the crt i am thinking yes but part of me says there wont be that big of a diff. plus you can get a nice widescreen lcd hehe 🙂

I'm debating the same thing...

I'm torn between the 2001FP or the NEC FP2141SB-BK 22" CRT...but I'm leaning toward the NEC.

i concluded there is no clear cut answer to this querstion. go with whatever you feel most comfortable with, i like pretty colors. just being a captain obvious here 🙂

there is no way to lift with your leg when pullin git out of the box. it was a huge pain.

Dude, if you game, get the CRT, it is just better period for gaming
my lil bro has no eye strain at all, he plays EQ2 like there is no tomorrow too.

crts rule. Anyone know anything about the new short neck crts models? The crt market needs a boost...viewsonic is the only company now with decent crt models....unless you wanna buy a 21'.

Tip: cut the top of the box open, pull the flaps back, flip it over (carefully!), and pull it up off the monitor. Then remove the styrofoam and lift it up off the floor. I used to work in tech support, and this is the easiest way to get it parts out of the box if you don't have someone else to help and it doesn't come in a box that you can disassemble.

Trying to lift a 21"+ monitor up out of the box is a good way to hurt yourself. A second person is also a good idea when moving heavy equipment. This is exactly the reason I'm sorely tempted to get a 2001FP instead of a 22" CRT. I'm holding out for a 12ms 4:3 model... although with prices going the way they have been, I may have to buy a 2001FP at some point. My current monitor just isn't cutting it anymore, and is dying a slow, painful death.

Absolutly no ghosting on my lcd. Hitatchi with 16ms response time, works great with every game I've played including half life 2, and isn't a back breaker like my 20" crt, that bent my desk.

There's ghosting on every LCD monitor. I've seen many LCDs and I have a 12ms one myself. Anyone into serious gaming (leagues) should use a CRT.

I'm running dual samsung syncmaster 753df monitors and they ROCK for gaming.

Looks teh ubAr with my 6800GT.

Nix on the LCD.

So you like playing MS FlightSim 2004? 😉 Don't get me wrong. Dual monitor rock for productivity work but gaming is pretty much one monitor affair. Gaming on 17" CRT is like 16 inch viewable. Your monitor is basically 1024x768 monitor as the max 1280x1024 @ 65Hz is basically unusable. 6800GT is overkill for 1024x768 resolution gaming. Looks like you should have spent less on the videocard and more on your monitors.

i want a 22in but dam they go up in price from 19-22 big diff one inch so 19in is for me. maybe newegg can start caring the one i want they have the gay one that dot pitch is .25-.27 so i probably going to have to buy some were else.

I have both. The CRT is superior for gaming and has better color to it, but the LCD is much easier on my eyes and looks smoother.
