LCD on the cheap?

I get dizzy reading the specs on TVs at newegg, so I'm not about to go to bestbuy, and have a salesman take advantage of me. So I come to you guys. I need a new TV, the old SDTV is failing, and I only have about $500 to spend, any ideas? I don't want to go smaller than 26".
 
Newegg currently has a 26" Olevia (226V) for $500. Or you could upgrade to a 32" Olevia (232V) for just $50 more. Both have free 3 day shipping.

They're a tier 2 LCD brand. Not as good as the big boys (Sony, Samsung, etc.), but better than some of the real no-names out there. On a 32" 720p HDTV, it's probably not going to matter all that much. You are definitely price constrained to some extent.

Another good option would be to see if anyone on craigslist is selling a used one - it's not too uncommon to see folks upgrading from smaller HDTVs to larger ones.
 
Yeah the better half has deigned upon me to spend another $50. 😉

I read that Olevia's tech support is weak but for the most part their TVs are good. I do plan on going total HTPC, home theater, so this TV is really just a stop gap as there are other things going on as planning and paying for a wedding. Anyway, thanks for the help guys.
 
last month i got a good deal at target,
32" magnavox 180i/180p lcd

on sale for 499$ last one was the display and they sold it to me with a 35% discount
cost me around 350$$$$

go to target and find out if any of there stock is out with only the display left

btw my tv is working great and i love it.
 
I thought I replied to this: Costco.com has a 32" for around $570 after tax and shipping and includes a complimentary two year warranty from Costco so you actually get a warranty which generally is not the case with off-brand sets. I was thinking of getting one.

Otherwise Toshiba is a really good value if you want something 40"+
 
In your OP you mention 26" to 32". Unless this is for a bedroom, I think you won't regret paying a tad more to go with the 32". A 26" is tiny!

Our living room is pretty small, there is only about 7 feet from the TV stand to the sofa.
