LCD monitors: Price decrease?

Hey hey, when should we expect the prices for LCD's decrease? I really would like a 17"/19" LCD, but their so damn expensive right now.

That's a shame, looks like I'll either got for a 19" CRT or a 17" LCD, euh, either way, it's expensive, looks like my old Dell 17" will have to last a bit longer🙂

A 17" LCD should be close to the same size as a 19" CRT. The LCD's are measured in its true size, and the CRT's aren't. I know that my previous 19" CRT only measured 17" diagonally.

LCD's should get much cheaper, I think within a year you'll be able to find a 17" for $439, maybe $499. Throwing out a couple 100 extra clams isent to bad. But LCDs have there weak points also, I dont think they'll be replacing CRT's anytime soon

I honestly don't see LCD monitors decreasing to "afforadable" levels until the released of flat panel CRTs which probably won't be widely available for at least a few years. I honestly think when those flat panel CRTs are released, you'll see LCD monitors priced pretty close to what current flat screen CRTs are priced at right now.

I've been tracking the price of the new ViewSonic VG191 for a few weeks now. It was very hard to find for under $1400 until just after the first of the year, now several places have it for under $1K. Pretty good deal for 25 ms, 250 nits, 500:1 contrast, 170° viewing angle, MVA, DVI, and swivel support. The only negative feedback I've seen is that you may see some ghosting, but only in the fastest moving gaming scenes.
