LCD Monitor

This is viewsonic. Looks like a good price if the size of the screen is good enough for you.

What qualities in a monitor are important to you? I've never felt an LCD computer monitor needed more than 60Hz refresh, but I do like stepping up to 24" and 1080p resolution, if not 1200 vertical. I'd rather have your Samsung 2494SW (own one myself).

Not LED backlit - higher power consumption and better color fidelity due to it, though still appears to be a TN panel either way.

You might ask in the video card and graphics subforum or have someone move the topic there.

Looks like a pretty standard TN panel to me. It is capable of taking a 120Hz input, which can increase the perceived smoothness, but the 5ms response time means that the increased refresh rate isn't going to benefit you as much as it would on, say a 2ms monitor.

As mindless1 said, whether or not it is a good buy depends on what qualities you're looking for in a monitor.

Would this monitor be a good choice ...is the extra $50 I would spend actually worth it to get the 120Hz?

I do not imagine it is a very good monitor for 3d gaming....just wondering your thoughts and if anybody has this monitor.

Thanks for any responses.
Not worth it for gaming. Ideally you'd want a 1920x1080 native resolution with 120Hz refresh rate if you're set on a TN panel. Personally I think the current "3D" tech is pointless and gimmicky.

You realize that the monitor the OP linked is 120Hz, right?
