hello, im looking at spending a grand max on a monitor.
i want it at least 26" and with hdmi connection for movies.
im unsure which cables i need.

with hdmi, i need a hdmi dvd player unit?
are there ones for computer?

if its separate from computer, do i use dvi, or svideo, connection to my computer video card?
(so that means i have 2 cable in my monitor, from hdmi player, and computer?)

please let me know. i want to buy this week.
im looking at these ones.

These LCDs are TVs and not MONITORS for computers. The difference is you will be running very LOW resolutions with the TVs rather then higher resolutions.

ex LCD TV Resolution: 1366x768
Dell 2405FPW Resolution: 1920x1200 (Much better resolution for such a large screen.)

I may be wrong but thats my take on it.

Try looking at the new Dell 3007FPW. Those are AWESOME. They so far aren't experiencing any banding issues like the 2407s and 2007s. I believe they go for $1300 so its a little above your price range..

I just picked up the 2405 for $699+tax+free shipping. I just hooked it up and I must say, this monitor is a beauty.

IIRC, HDMI and component (not composite) cables can both transfer HD signals perfectly, so you can use either to connect your DVD player to your TV. DVDs players are fairly low resoution compared to full HD resoution, so you don't really even need HDMI. If you're going to connect your computer, it's probably best to get a DVI to HDMI cable if the TV doesn't have a DVI connection. I would not recommend using S-video unless you have a standard definition TV.
