LCD monitor response time?

is a 25ms response time on a 19 inch lcd going to be horrible with ghosting? should i get a 17 inch with a faster response time???

For gaming, 25ms isn't ideal. There are some nice 16ms and 12ms models out there. I recently read somewhere (sorry, no link) 8ms models will be rolled out 1Q/05.

I'd stay away from 25ms models if your primary goal is gaming.

i have 19 " lcd w/25 ms response and it is just not adequate for gaming. I am going to to buy a 21 inch crt.

And if your primary use for it is gaming, just get a CRT.

i have to disagree with the whole "crt is better for gaming than an lcd" argument. maybe a year or two ago,this was true,but not anymore. if you have a decent video card,and a few bucks to spend,go for the 2001fp from dell-you can get it for 600-700 without too much trouble,just look in the thread involving dell coupons elsewhere on this site. that monitor has a 12ms response time,and absolutely no ghosting at all-at least that I can see,godlike deathmatch players might have a different opinion,but i can't speak for them. i've had the 2001fp for about two months now,and it's been sweet. before that i had a 19 inch nec fe950+,a very good crt monitor,and i see almost no difference in picture quality.

Perhaps that's true for you, and your eyes, but I and many others see a HUGE difference between current LCD's and CRT's in regards to FPS gaming.

i'm just referring to the specific lcd model i have-read some reviews on it,other people seem to agree with me. however,if you're that good at your fps of choice,do me a fav and don't kick my ass too bad if you ever run across me in a ut2004 server,ok? 😉

right well i dont play FPS games mostly just use it for video editing, internet,m and sports games liek tiger woods or madden or whatever woudl 25ms be alright for these games? i alot of peopel seem to think FPS are the only games that really suffer from 25ms thanks a lot

i gotta also mention that for 299, after a 200$ rebate i get a 19 inch LCD with DVI connection... thats a damn good price and i think that should probably weigh in, right?

if you got the money for them, try the Samsung 172x or the Samsung 712n.
Both have 12ms responce times and are very nice. I personaly own the 712n and it plays games w/ no ghosting i can see at all.
