LCD monitor question

I am currently using a really old 19inch monitor (LG 915ft plus), got way more out of it than I ever expected, but due to combination of reasons I decided to finally get a LCD monitor.

The thing I do most on computer is watching videos and playing games, I've read articles on LCD stating that one of the problem with LCD monitor is that good LCD monitors are either good for games and bad for watching video or vice versa. If that is true, then I am looking for a compromise, I am still looking for a 19 inch, and so far, this is my only candidate (my budget is around US$ 250-300):

LG FLATRON 19" TFT LCD

Display Type Flat panel display / TFT active matrix
Dimensions(WxHxD) 41.3 x 42.1 x 23 cm
Weight 5.7kg
Max Resolution 1280 x 1024
Colour support Up to 16.2 million colors
Max Sync Rate (V x H) 75 Hz x 83 kHz
Response Time 8 ms
Interface VGA (HD-15)
Image Brightness 300 cd/m2
Image Contrast Ratio 700:1
Image Max H-View Angle 170
Image Max V-View Angle 170
Flat Panel Mount Interface 100 x 100 mm

well most of the old criticisms are no longer applicable. lcds are pretty decent these days. anandtech obviously ahs reviews.. so does tomshardware
sure some other people have more sites.

Bull. While I no longer have issues with LCD for either gaming or critical color matching over CRT, the problems remains that LCD's *SUCK* when it comes to running video or any other kind of media below resolution.

A CRT can be run at 640x480 or 800x600 and look decent, which also happens to be the native resolution of most video. An LCD looks like crap below 1074x768. I realize many of you don't care if video is upscaled and interpolated to death because you're mostly watching ripped of Bit Torrent movies anyways, but the problem persists.

Example: watch a well mastered DVD on a CRT set for 640x480. Now watch it on a 19" LCD at any resolution you want. The CRT picture will look much better. Even LCD based TV's have to upscale somewhere.

I decided to go with viewsonic VP930B

It's way way over my budget but considering how long a monitor last for me, I think it's well worth the money.
