I notice that when once xp restart (after updating windows etc), my monitor screen goes blank. But when i power down and remove the plug from the power socket and boot up again, my monitor is ok. This can be repeated. XP restart will give blank screen while start-up from cold, everything is ok. This is weird. I've tested my monitor with another PC and its ok. My guess its either the vid card or the mobo.

My rig:
Athlon64 3000+
A8N-SLI mobo
Corsair 2x 1Gig RAM
Winfast 660GT PCIE vid card
Enermax 400W PSU.
Samsung SyncMaster 713n LCD monitor

Pls help.

I think that your guest is right. Do you see the POST screen at every restart? Is the graphic card dual head?

just came back from holiday. sorry for late follow-up.

Yes i do see the POST screen most of the time during restart but not all the time.

I'm not sure whether my vid card is dual head.

You wouldn't happen to have updated your Forceware drivers recently? I'm having similar restart issues, and I'm trying to pinpoint if I'm using bad video card drivers, or if the problem is elsewhere.

amber, no i did not upgrade or update forceware drivers. someone mention it could be mobo leak...not sure what it meant....

i tried something else yesterday night. I did a restart and the screen went blank and i did a 2nd restart but at the POST, i go into safe mode manually and the screen is ok. then i do another restart into safe mode but this time the screen went blank also....so i doubt it could be drivers.
