LCD Monitor Advice Needed

I've been using a pretty good Mitsubishi 19" CRT (Diamond Plus 91 flat screen) for a number of years but I'm now ready to jump into the world of LCD monitors.

Can someone recommend something for around $750 give or take $100? One of my friends is recommending the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP Wide-Screen for $799 but I really don't know a great deal about LCD's.

I searched the messages here and most of the questions are for LCD's under $500 or over $1,000 (not much in the middle) so I apologize if this question has been posted before.

This will be used mostly for gaming if that helps at all...thanks a lot for any advice and sorry again if this has been posted before!

If you do go with a 2407, wait for another hot deal. They have been under $600 recently.

According to XtKnight, the benq 24" lcd is superior in most aspects to the dell, you may want to check it out @ newegg... $800 i think? It's got HDMI, so If you're doing a htpc, definetly get it. If not it's still really good quality.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 225BW. 22" LCD with a 5ms response time. It's huge and I love it! It goes for less than $400 as well.

Heh, not really.

That's still a TN.
A good one, but still.

This one = best overall for the bang for buck 24" range IMHO:

I'd go for the Benq FP241W also. It's more than the Dell, but the 2407WFP has had a lot of quality problems, even the latest rev. A03 models. I haven't actually seen the Benq, but I've read far more consistently favorable commentary about it than the Dell. Plus, with Newegg's new promotion, it's now $759 shipped. Use promo code EMCBQBLACK24 to take $40 off the listed price of $799 shipped.

Thanks you guys for the additional info on the Benq (and for that promo code, too)! This one looks pretty awesome. I'll read up on it today and try to make up my mind. Has anyone seen the Benq FP241W lower than $759 before?

Hey you guys...thanks a lot for the advice. I ordered the Benq today from NewEgg. List price was $899 minus $100 instant rebate minus $40 with the promo code...so the total came out to $759 with free 3-day shipping...whoo hoo!!

Anyway, thanks for the advice! :)
