Hey all.
For quite a while now I've had an issue with my Dell 27" LCD monitor. The issue is this:
To the right (and also sometimes to the left) of pretty much all objects on my screen there is a 'shadow' of sorts. For example, next to all of the text of this post I see a darkish line extending out towards the right end of my screen. The line is exactly the height of the text and it extends from each line of text. It also extends from each button, word, and object on the screen.
I'm not sure how to describe this 'shadow.' It seems to be a grayish color, darker than white but lighter than black. If I move objects on my screen around, the shadow will follow them. Right now there is no shadow to the left of the objects on my screen, but sometimes the shadow also extends to the left of objects too.
When I first started noticing this problem, I was able to fix it by physically rotating and moving my monitor around. The shadows would seem to flicker and then disappear when I did this. Now, though, the shadows seem to have built up an immunity, if you will, to this technique. It sounds funny, I know, but it's true.
Sometimes the shadows are worse than other times. I cannot pinpoint any event that makes them appear or disappear. Unplugging, turning off, or disconnecting the monitor from the computer doesn't seem to make a difference; when I turn the thing back on, the shadows are still there.
Could it just be a defective monitor? The shadows seem to be more intense (more visible) immediately next to the object from which they emanate and to trail off the further away I look. I really can't come up with any explanation for them. Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
