LCD Inverter Board for Inspiron 1100

So I'm on the phone with a very nice woman from India and she has no idea what I need despite my attempts to be very specific. After 30 frustrating minutes for both of us, she says she can't help and hangs up. I call back, get a guy, who after 30 minutes gives up as well but decides to be sneaky and gives me the part number for the FLEX CABLE. Yarrr.

So if anybody can throw me a bone and help me find this part online somewhere (I've been scouring eBay for the past 20 minutes). It's the inverter board for the lcd screen of Dell Inspiron 1100. About 1cm wide and 13cm long.

What does an "inverter board" do?
Turn what's displayed into a mirror image, or something?
Or did you mean: "power inverter", for producing 115 volts from a car 12 volt outlet?

OK. Now, exactly what does this "inverter" do? In other words: what function is not now working, that replacing this part would fix?
Can't Dell supply this part?
Does Dell have a parts diagram & breakdown list (like Sears has for their garage door openers, for example)? If they did, it would make communicating to their Indian support easier. Maybe this detailed parts info is only available to Dell's official repair techs.
Just curious...

Dell won't supply this single part. I just had to buy a new one also and they will only sell you the whole LCD screen kit, they wont breat it up. That cost between 400-700!

It's an inveter board that goes between the video card and LCD. I think it inverts the signal and/or power from the video card to a useable form for the LCD.

I kiss you! Kiss kiss kiss!

I figured Dell wouldn't supply this single part, that's what I told my boss, but he kept insisting I try. Thank you John for your eBay searching skills.
