does it means the LCD is about to develop a Dead pixel, if you keep seeing a bright spot in the same place every now and then?

it's usually mostly visible when the monitor is starting up, then it goes away

if you touch the LCD in that spot, then it comes back

but it goes away after awhile and is harder to get it back

the same identical LCD does not have the problem

I'm affraid it's a sign. You might have a stuck pixel. Dead pixels are dead all the time, but you say yours comes and goes. That's stuck. Tap it and it should go away. If it doesn't work, tap harder.

yes that is exactly the behaviour, if i touch softly it goes away for a while, until the LCD resets (standby /back on), or during On/Off.

if i touch it harder it comes back

hmm... well it's brand new, might as well take it back to the store and change it for a good one.

A lot of stores you will find will not accept a return of an LCD monitor unless it has a certain amount of "Dead/Stuck" pixels. Like 5 or something. So you may just have to get used to it. Hopefully you will be able to return the thing though , because I know that would drive me crazy.

all is swell now, after going through 2 exchanges ....
2 out of 4 was good.... kinda a 50% - 50% rate on LCDs, that is horrible.
in the lined up for customer service there was another guy with a ViewSonic, and many other guys with other Models...

gosh, and i though i was paranoid about getting a LCD, that just proves my worst fear... LCD are still way behind its time on reliability and QA, compared to CRTs monitors
