Some of the basic elements are speed, image and color resolution, viewing angle, motion artifacts and light leakage. Start by doing some of your own homework, both here and around the web, and scan through this thread. Come back when you have some questions beyond the basics that aren't answered from the more obvious sources.

If were talking input lag I don't think any of the 120 Hz monitors can topple the LG W227WTG. Mainly because there is no input lag for that model. From what I could tell, the Samsung 120 Hz has 12ms input lag or so and then 8.33ms per frame on top of that, which would actually put it behind the LG, even though the LG is only 60 Hz. As far as perceived smoothness though, the Samsung will probably win. I am waiting for a monitor like the LG that will do True 120 Hz. Until then, the LG is the one to have, IMO. But different strokes for different folks.

We tested the Asus VK246H for this delay by comparing it to a CRT model in a stopwatch test:

The Asus VK246H is on the left hand side and a CRT is on the right; input lag = 0 ms.

For more than 100 images, there is a single peak; input lag = 31 ms.

We were astonished at the result. Of 100 pictures, about 95 percent demonstrated no input lag. The remainder demonstrated an input lag of about two frames (~33 ms). This gives rise to an average input lag of 1,65 ms, which is an outstanding value, even for a TN panel. Despite this, however, there is still the 5 percent chance of a two-frame lag.

Hey! Thanks for the information. I did look up both models (I am not really familar with Asus when it comes to displays) but neither of them appeared to be 120 Hz. Did I just not see it? I didn't spend much time looking.

You're welcome ArchAngel777,btw I actually own an Asus VW246H monitor and its been great for gaming,colours are vey decent especially after monitor calibration, btw they are 60Hz however Asus do have some 120Hz LCDs on the way, Asus 120Hz info link.
