LCD Flicker

I've got a Viewsonic VA 520 that tends to flicker (the brightness increases and decreases really quickly, giving the screen a jumpy look).

I don't think it's due to a problem with the video input (right now coming from the onbord graphics of a Dell SC420) because it's had this same problem with another graphics card in another computer.

I've also got another (newer) VA520 that doesn't have the flickering problem.

Pressing the auto-adjust menu setting seems to help things a little, and increasing the brightness makes it less noticiable.

Is this a problem with the backlight, or what?

Thanks in advance.

Thats the florecent tube thats causing it to "flicker". This happened to my vaio laptop and it went away but every once in a while it just slightly flickers but nothing too bad (midly gets darker and then brighter). In this case since it's a separate monitor, I would RMA the monitor if I were you (if it doesn't go away).

Yes, I believe that's a backlight issue. I don't what Viewsonic's policy is, but I'd definatly give them a call.
Oh yeah and just in case you haven't... Is your monitor set to the correct refresh rate? (I believe it's 60 hertz on most LCDs, check the manual or the box if you still have it)

I can relate right now, I'm having some difficulties with my LCD

Good luck,
Matt
