Does anyone know as to why my LCD fades to white sometimes? The screen seems okay, but once in a while it will fade and almost go completely white.

The only fix to this is powering the laptop off, and powering it back on. One odd thing is that this suddenly started after I installed DirectX 9... could it be the culprit?

Laptop uses a Trident Cyber 9525 (something like that) 2.5MB of video memory.

Fades to all white coloring, or all coloring fades out and all you can see is the backlight?

Um... that is a good question that has me stumped.

How would I be able to tell if it were the first scenario or the latter scenario?

Coud it be a bad cable connection, or a bad inverter? I've done some searching on google.groups.com and see a lot of posts regarding this.

Some people have said that it could be bad cables, some have said the LCD is dying, some have said bad inverter, and others have said something could be loose (connection), and some have said one or two other things.

TIA :)

that should say "Could" not "Coud" above me *l* still need my morning cup of coffee :)

Oh, and what is happening is that the screen begins to fade to white, but I can still see the images that are on the screen (ex. my IE window) but if I try to move the mouse, nothing appears to move. The sound and everything work okay still though.
