LCD Experts Wanted

NEC LCD4000 is what our company is selling the most of right now in the "Pro" AV market. If you can only select one of those I'd go with the LG.

Is there something better?

LG is $6500, Clarity is $12000.

I've used the NEC LCD4000 and the Clarity Bobcat (40" LCD). The Clarity monitor looks alot better at HDTV res than the NEC. The Clarity is built well and they use protective glass to prevent screen damage and reduce glare.

I havent used the 42" LG before. The price difference is the key here. The 42" LG is almost half of price than the 46" Clarity, but the Clarity is bigger. Not $5500 worth bigger IMHO 🙂

I also have the option for the Clarity Bob Cat at $7600. Big difference there is the LG has a 3 yr warranty vs. the Clarity 1 yr.

Its hard for me to say which one, I haven't seen the LG 42" before. I do know that the Clarity looks damn good. I've used the 30" LG monitors and they look pretty good.

I would lean towards the LG, lower price / better warranty.

That's what I was thinking. Warranty plus cost seems to make the LG the way to go. The bad thing is the LG is factory back ordered for 8-12 weeks.

With regard to LCD pricing you're almost always paying for the quality of the scan converter. The Clarity is in another league. The LG and NEC and both good products that offer the best price per performance, i.e. the best scan converter for the buck. I'd still purchase the NEC over the LG. The NEC LCD4000 is $4000 cost. Pretty impressive for what you get in my opinion. The 42" LG is a bit over $5000 cost.
