Just an update. I just called customer service. They said the only way they can replace my LCD is if it has dead pixels which doesn't apply to me. So, I have to get a replacement from the manufacturer. I have never done this before, do you know how long it might take? The company I bought my LCD from is named Chimei, it's located in Taiwan. I would prefer to do this through Newegg, but I have no other options at this point.

Lets see if i get this.... You got a new lcd from newegg, you received it defective from newegg. You contact newegg telling them this, and they told you sorry, you have to take care of it on your own?
I just wanted to clarify that you received it defective before using it...

Wow, I'd be pissed off :|

To taiwan nonetheless. Holy hell, that would be my last order.

edit- I must be missing something. It did in fact come out of the box defective?

Ya, if this is the case, im seriously going to reconsider getting anything more than a casefan from the egg.... Newegg support better get things right if this is indeed true.

** This item is warranted through the product manufacturer only.
** Dead Pixels Policy: Replacement or Refund for 8 or more dead pixels only.

So im guessing that newegg is saying, you have a "blemish" not 8 dead pixels. You have to talk to manufacture about that.

So he orders a new lcd from newegg, he receives a defective one (not getting what he ordered). Newegg tells him its his problem to deal with the company in taiwan, and thats supposed to be ok?

*edit*
Most traders here deal better than that....

I would ask for an owner or supervisor, screw that. I can clearly see it, and newegg is obligated to replace it for you. They tried to stick me with a faulty CPU a few years back, and I wrote a well thought out, finely composed letter on resellerratings.com and one of the owners called me, apologized, and mailed me out a new CPU overnight. A lot of times, it's just a matter of moving far enough up the ladder that you get someone's attention. Their customer services reps are a joke 70% of the time. I dunno if they're encouraged to just blow people off and work to screw them, but it doesn't help their situation. I've personally spent in excess of $30,000 at newegg over the years, and if I get something I'm not 100% satisfied with, I expect someone on the other end of the phone that is all about me being a happy, returning customer, because it's only going to take one round of "stick you with $60 shipping charges to Taiwan on a defective LCD" that will send me running over to zipzoomfly or monarch the next time.

Oh, and don't be afraid to get a little loud. I'm not saying to curse or degrade the rep, but let them know you're not even a little bit happy that this situation. I've learn over the years that if being civilized won't get you results, it never hurts to get pissed.

One time my wife ordered 2 sets of these dishes during a great sale that she really liked at amazon. They kept pushing the ship date back, probably 5-6 times, and then, 4 months later, they cancelled. I called their customer support, and the first thing I said to the guy was, "I just want to let you know I'm super-pissed, and it's not your fault, but you're going to hear about it anyway." By the time I got off the phone, I had the dishes re-ordred, and got them for free. That's good customer service, and I sent a letter to amazon complimenting the rep for the work he did to resolve the issue.

Exactly. I'm stunned and left thinking that there may be more to the story than what the OP wrote. "Just got" is kind of vague.

I gotta say, no offense, but this is making the Egg look like jerks. You should forward this to someone in an authority position. I'm not sure how long ago this guy bought the LCD, but it's crap that Newegg won't support him AT ALL after the initial purchase. Let's just say he bought this thing like 10 days ago and now he wants to exchange it. You're not going to exchange it for him? You obviously have the serial number from it, you could be the bigger company, and just switch out the LCD for the guy since you sent him a defective product. I've ordered quite a few LCDs for our office over the last year from NewEgg, gotta say, if this is the best you can do for a defective product, I'll have to think seriously about getting a new monitor from Newegg.

LRGuy:

What kind of LCD is it? Brand and model #? Let me know, I might be able to get you someone stateside to exchange it, depending on the manufacturer.

Yeah, it was that way. There's no physical damaged during shipping or anything. You can only see this blemish if the monitor is turned on.

Thanks everyone for the support! Sorry for replying and leaving. I had to go to work.

Most of my orders for computer parts, I do through Newegg. I've been very satisfied with them. This is the 2nd time I've tried to get a replacement from them (The first time, I did the freezer trick for a bad hard drive and I disqualify myself from an RMA I had requested.). This won't stop me from buying through Newegg, but my confidence in them is shaken somewhat.

I "just got" my LCD monitor for about 2 weeks before I made this post. When I got it, I was very happy with. The LCD is bright and very clear. When I first watch movies on it, I began noticing this blemish on it in scenes that were dark. I thought I could live with it, but the more I watch videos on it I kept noticing it more and more. I don't think it would be so bad if this blemish is on the side, but it's right in the middle of the screen towards the top.

I have contacted him, I'm just responding to people's post. The LCD cost me $200 and I'm going to cry if I want to.

This is very bad, newegg better make good. Is this what anyone can expect if they were shipped something that was defective? Keep us posted.

Don't pay any attention to jediyokel, its easier on everyone that way :)

I hope the newgg support will help you out. They've always made good with me but as I said, if I got a monitor that was defective out of the box and I was told to RMA it to taiwan, that would be the end of that relationship ;)

Good luck.

Actually that was pretty much what Newegg told me when I got defective RAM. When I wanted to swap it or refund, they said: "the manufacturer made a defective product; we are only the seller. What makes you think its fair to make us pay for it?"

My response? "Uh...you add to the cost of the product and profit from it? Why shouldn't you help me?"

At least, I had something other than AOL CDs to test with Microwaves now...

Stop being a party-liner, Sam Jackson style patriot, or whatever the hell you are trying to come off as. Or does newegg now employ Nvidia's "marketting program" of paid shills?
