"Soyo 24" LCD Monitor Display $299.99 at Officemax"
I bought this monitor at the previous sale and it a great pc monitor however for watching movies it does have a defect
its about black levels on LCDs because the backlight "leaks" past the light-blocking black liquid and causes a glow in ares or sometimes the entire screen. more noticeable in dark scens
its there in others too and is the causes a "shimmer" or shine effect.
its not from the light in your room or from the window
its not a real problem for computing and surfing but for movies its noticeable for sure.
i'll be getting a new TV soon also and this montors problem would be a bigger ah heck to me on my 37" or so TV because i have a keen eye for picture detail tho i'm not expert i have spent many years adjusting picture colors and brightness looking for the perfect picture.
so what value priced TVs are offering some solution to this problem? so i know what to shop for.
the problem is easily displayed by pausing your pc before the GUI loads and comparing
the glow of your "black" non-gui or "DOS" display to that of when powered off screen
which is much darker isnt it? lcds will need this improvement in black levels to show
a nice picture at lower more comfortable bright levels in a dark room.
the backlight on this one seems WAY too bright and i like to set it well below half.
