VSync reduces tearing, tearing is caused by the difference of speed between the monitor and the graphics card. VSync makes the graphics card WAIT for the monitor to refresh. DUH, lol jk

VSync off and LCDs don't mix. There's already a slight variation in response time among the pixels depending on the color transitions...why make it worse?

With a demanding game like BF2, maintaining even a lowly minimum of 60 FPS is difficult so triple buffering is prolly required if Vsync is on (to avoid drastic dips to fractions of 60). But that creates a new problem which is significantly increased VRAM useage which is prolly already maxed out by the game and means increased dependence upon slower system RAM. Ergo, leave it off unless tearing is frequent and bothersome.

If you have hardware that can keep up then always put vsync on. My Core 2 Duo and X1900XT give me 100fps constant in that game, so I always put vsync on and enjoy a truely constant 60fps gaming bliss in max settings at 1440x900. :)

Nice, but it would be more blissful at 1200x900 since you would see more (no cropping) :p

Thanks guys I think I've done a little testing on my own and have decided to go with it off (my system dips below 60's all the time and its horrible to aim with vsync on) However - another question about the game itself..

How do you go about unlocking the F2000 and the FNP-90 etc? Do I have to go out and buy SF to be able to have these unlocks in regular gameplay?
