LCD backlight bleed

Hi

I've tried 3 different LCDs on my PC and all 3 over time have developed rather severe backlight bleed. I had the first one replaced because it was so severe. Now the replacement's bleeding is getting gradually worse. I tried a another monitor from a different make and it too started to bleed rather badly. I know all monitors have it but surely they aren't all that bad. I've used the last one mentioned on a work PC for a short while and didn't notice any severe bleeding.

So could it be a component on my machine like my graphics card? Can other hardware components cause backlight bleeding?

EDIT: They all seem to show the same pattern of gradually deteriorating

This explains the problem very well - and outlines the fixes.

i don't think it gets worse. i think you are just noticing it more.
and perception can be altered by ambient light. a lcd that looks great in bright office lighting can look iffy in lower lighting conditions where the bleed becomes noticable.

yeah, its kind of strange how "over time have developed rather severe backlight bleed".. i would think that typically they are like that to begin with. specially some of the cheaper lcd panels

There's definitely a deterioration. I checked the monitor when I first bought it in the dark. There was only minimal bleeding in the bottom corner. After 2 weeks that had spread over a large area in the same light conditions. I sent the monitor back but the supplier claimed there was no bleeding for them. When I got it back for a few days there were no problems and then suddenly again the problem returned but far worse, it also developed severe bleeding at the top . I sent it back and this time the supplier said there was a problem with it and replaced it. The new monitor arrived and had only minimal bleeding in the bottom corner as well. Now a few weeks later and it's worsened along with rather severe bleeding at the top. Not nearly as bad as the first one though. Now while the first was being replaced I used another LCD monitor that at first was fine but later started to bleed along the bottom. Nowhere near as bad the others though but still noticeable.

I'll load up some pics later.
