I've got this great LCD monitor at work and would like to get one for my home computer. The thing that concerns me is that the refresh rate on this one on a DVI connector is limited to 60hz. Basically, I'm wondering if this refresh rate will limit my fps in games. It looks great at 60hz, much better than crt would, but I've never played any games on it.
Thanks!

If you have vsync on, then it will probably limit your fps to around 60.

My question for you is, if you can get a constant 60fps in any game, do you really need much more? :)

The refresh rate on an LCD is different than a CRT, it really isn't important on an LCD because of the technology. LCD's pixels are either on or off, so there really isn't a refresh rate per se. However, what IS important is the response time of the LCD. This determines how quickly the pixels can refresh themselves to different colors or turn themselves on and off. If you get an LCD with a bad refresh rate you will get a lot of motion blurring during games and movies.

Make sure to get an LCD with a pixel response time of 25ms or less. If you want a recommendation of a couple of good LCD's check out this thread.

Thanks for the info! The one I have at work is a Dell 1800fp and I love it. My boss bought like 30 of them to get a sweet deal and will sell them to us at cost.

The 60hz will only limit you frame rate if V-Sync is on.
Refesh rates, have no meaning on TFTs(ie no flickering at 60hz)

Best TFT for gaming/internet/dvds/general use, IMO is the Hitachi CML174 series(17", 16ms responce time).
