LCD - Analog vs. DVI

I'm getting new LCD monitor. Should I use DVI connector(it means new video card) or Analog will be OK?
By the way, monitor I'm getting has both Analog and DVI.

Just use the analog connection. According to the big review places, the difference between DVI and analog is not even visible to the naked eye. I have an analog Samsung SyncMaster 570V, and it is still a hundred times better than the CRT I had before.

Yeah just use the Analog. The problem with DVI is that you hardly get any cards with DVI on the high end market.

Yeah...just use analog untill it's time to get a new video card...and then go for one with DVI

Maybe it's just me but I noticed a big difference when I switch to DVI on my planar using a leaktek geforce2 ultra. If I can help it, I'm never going back to analog again 😛.

I don't know that everyone slese was thinking, but DVI is 100 times better then Analog for a LCD. I looked at several lcd's and all of them were analog connections, and tehy all were fuzzy, i then say an apple dvi lcd and it is soooooo much nicer to look at. I really like the way the sony lcd's look, most of theirs are dvi. Its well worth the cost, even if you have to buy a new v/c

Depends on the type of DVI connection used. There are many flavors of the DVI interface. Fore example: DVI-I, DVI-D. Analog video signals can also be used with the DVI interface and are denoted by the -I suffix. Look at the spec sheet and the user guide to see if it says Analog video.

DVI-D designed for digital-only connections, where both the card and display can use the digital link.

DVI-I supports both digital and analog on a single connection.

I would expect the video performance to be better with DVI-D (pure digital). If the unit is using DVD-I (analog) in practice odds are you will not be able to tell the difference.
