Layer Cake (2005)

For those of you who aren't familiar, it stars Daniel Craig (latest Bond) as is basically a "Snatch"-ish film with idiots, mafia, powerful bosses, clueless heroes etc.

I gotta say I was surprised. It was more than I would have ever expected.

I thought that was a pretty underrated film. I think the problem was that people went in thinking it was a comic crime caper like "Lock Stock" and "Snatch," and were disappointed. I thought it was very good for the most part. Another good Daniel Craig role is the very creepy "Enduring Love."

You're born, you take sh*t. You get out in the world, you take more sh*t. You climb a little higher, you take less sh*t. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what sh*t even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake son.

It was probably good but I couldn't understand whatever the fvck language they were speaking.

It's as close to foreign as the language they spoke in The Departed.

yah I saw it way back when it was new. it was a cool movie. the ending was pretty cool 😉

No, the ending stunk.

I count one of the worst letdowns in life as when Daniel Craig got kidnapped when he was waiting on Sienna Miller in the bathroom.

I love the movie, but it's a total ripoff of Carlito's Way.

Premptive edit: OK, not a TOTAL ripoff, but very similar, especially in the ending.

Just watched it this morning. I had seen previews many times, but I finally happened to remember it the last time I was at Blockbuster. Great movie. 🙂
