nope. don't pay extra. just have to "register" your address with them so they can know where to direct 911 to you.

vonage has 911 stuff all over when you sign up...if you don't know anything about it going in you shouldn't be using voip i guess

That was the FIRST thing I read about while signing up, and the first thing I changed when my phone box came.

It's spelled out VERY clearly on their website and when you sign up. In fact, I don't think they could be any MORE clear about it.

And it's a "Registration" not a "sign up seperately."

This AG needs to have his ass handed to him. And I hope the judge has at least a third grade reading level so he can read the Vonage site and do it.

Yup. It's up to $1 (or more) per month on my cell phone as well.

As Amused said, they pretty much beat you over the head with it through the web site and sometimes emails. As soon as I moved into my new apt. in NH (I had bought the Vonage service prior to moving from Toronto), I set it up.

Aren't there some states that are suing Vonage as well regarding the 911 service?

Abbott needs to learn to read. He needs to sign up for Vonage HIMSELF and see what it's like. If you sign up for Vonage and somehow don't understand that you have to enable 911 calling separately, you're incredibly stupid.

A lot of people don't always use the box where it's registered. Some people travel with their boxes as well.

Did they ever said why you have to register separately? Why not register for 911 automatically when someone subsribe to VoIP?

BTW, I don't have VoIP so don't know much about it. As for the lawsuit, pretty netural about it.
