Lawn problems

So I'm pretty much a new home owner and I have been struggling last fall/winter with getting all the leaves raked off the lawn in a timely fashion. Well now there are brown spots on front and side yard with also lots of weeds. The back yard grass is nice and green but I got even bigger weeds.

Anyone want to share any advice to a first time home owner? This is all new to me. I lived out in the country and never dealt with any of this.

i try to do yard work at least once a day for 1/2 an hour. right now i'm tearing up the old lawn and gonna get it ready for fertilizer and seed. as for the weeds. i just pull them out.

Use TruGreen or another service. Money well spent IMHO.

Any tips on certain products to use to maintain your grass nice? My front yard has 2 big trees on it so it's got a lot of shade. My back yard does ha none and my side has some. When I mow should a mulch at all?
