It's better to have your clippings remain on the lawn. Just get a lawn mower, and cut the grass so the clippings stay on the lawn.

i kind of know the advantages and disadvantages of both of these, but i just want to know how fine does the mulcher chop the grass? i'm afraid that it will make my backyard impossible to walk in because it will leave my shoes green... any opinions?
Yeah, I find the great outdoors terribly dirty don't you? I mean couldn't they replace the grass with Astro-turf or green concrete or something?
ROFL! The city just installed water meters here and we'll be going from a flat monthly rate for water to metered service and rates.
Many of the locals are up in arms and are talking about taking out their lawns and replacing them with green concrete...or astroturf.
What a travesty. They have to pay for what they use.
Anyway, considering much of California is just irrigated desert, xeriscaping should be more common anyway.

Not only that, but now they are also having to pay the added cost of meter installations.
