True true. The spinning combine style blades are much healthier for your lawn than the propeller style blades on most gas and electric mowers. I first learned this years ago from a neighbor I had who was a total lawn fanatic (like a golf course and he was retired and mowed it 3-4 times a week) who had convered a human-powered push mower into a gas powered just to have the blades. Very cool.
 
I know a guy that supercharged his mower. He dropped the deck off and uses it as an offroad vehicle.

(He adapted a small GM SC for a Crapalier or somethin')
 
If it is a quality mower (Honda, LawnBoy, John Deer, etc.) then plug, filter, oil, and fresh gas.
Otherwise run away, it has passed it's life expectency any way.
 
REALLY old Montgomery Ward brand mowers are total tanks. Mine is older than the truck (and the truck is a '77) and runs like the day it left the store.
