Lawn mower maintenance question

Well I got the old Murray walk behind running. I found out it runs much better if you change the oil air filter and plug at least once in 7 years.

So now it?s got all new stuff. I even sprung for a couple of quarts of Mobile1 15w-50 and a platinum tipped spark plug. Too bad they don?t sell K&N filters, Folger exhaust systems and ?R? decals. 😉

But the belt power takeoff doesn?t work very well. This is a single speed Diamond Ultra 21" Murray with a 6hp B&S. The power takeoff lever is on the left side of the handle. Is there an adjustment for the pulley tensioner or do I just replace the belt? The belt doesn?t look cracked or worn but it might be streched.

The Murray on line owners manual doesn?t handle this (I lost my paper copy) and their teck support is off on Saturdays. The local lawn mower guys want me to bring it in but I think I can fix it myself if I can get someone to answer my question.

I'd sure as hell fix it myself before taking it to a repair shop. Gonna need pictures and covers removed to be able to tell for sure. Can you see anything stopping it from making a longer reach to tighten the belt?
