Representatives of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security told a House of Representatives subcommittee that wireless systems now being tested by two airlines could give terrorists a reliable link to friends on the ground, and mobile phones could be used by terrorists to remotely set off bombs on airplanes.

"There are some who would use this technology for criminal and sometimes lethal purposes," said Laura Parsky, deputy assistant attorney general in the DOJ's Criminal Division

Probably was supposed to be for P&N. Either way I like the legislation idea for another reason. I don't want people on the phone on an airplane. It's annoying enough as it is, and if they can use the terrorism excuse again to stop people I support it.

especially if they're arguing/crying/or hissing about the stupid*est things anyone could ever imagine...

"Bobby.. NOoo, you can't break up with me... agh.. hhaahh, Bobby, honey.. NooOOooOO, why're you doing this... THIS isn't TRUE.. ugh.. ugh... agghhhhh.."

~LOL~ anyone been in a situation like this? Ask to grab the cell phone and who the he** knows what with it.

You can already phone from airplanes, at least on the longer flights (e.g. transatlantic)
It is however often quite expensive.

Exactly. Nobody uses it because it's like $3.99/minute. If cell phones are allowed on planes, most of the people on the plane are going to be on the phone and I will jab blunt objects into my ears.

Oh noes! $3.99 a minute! Guess they'll have to cancel the bombings!

Cell phones on the plane won't be such a problem for one simple reason: Who can hear the phone over all the screaming brats?
