Haha, you know how Lenny is always making wise cracks about the dead guys at the beginning of the show? There's got to be an archive of them or something somewhere. Like the one tonight was:

"He goes out for a stroll and ends up at his own wake"

I mean, most of the time they're corny, but they're always funny as hell in the context given:p

I posted a couple of weeks ago about one of the great throw away
pieces of dialog I caught ending a scene. Briscoe and Greene are grilling a suspect pretty hard, and they finally catch him up in his story:

Suspect: (flustered)... I don't know.

Briscoe: Third base.

Suspect: I don't understand.

Briscoe: Neither did Costello.

If you're too young to remember Abbot and Costello's, it's a reference to their famous "Who's On First?" sketch. The whole thing took all of about five to ten seconds, and it left me chuckling, all night. I had visions of some writer waking up in the middle of the night in a fit of giggles, and I couldn't imagine anyone on the set keeping a straight face, the first time they heard it. :D :D

Didn't Orbach's recurring character on "Murder, She Wrote" also make similar wisecracks?

I always thought that if Steven Hill (Adam Schiff) left L&O, the series wouldn't survive.
But now I think that Orbach's Briscoe is the irreplaceable character.

Schiff was irreplaceable. I can't stand Dianne Weist. All I see is the bimbo from Hannah and her Sisters.

I don't think she is doing very well at all in that role, and I think the entire series is suffering because of it.

I'd like to see Schiff come back and argue a case against McCoy (a la Robinette). Now THAT would be some ass-kickin lawyering!

Well, the DA doesn't argue cases...the only time I ever recall seeing Schiff in the courtroom was in "Terminal". One of the best episodes ever.

I meant for Schiff to come back as an independent attorney, not as DA (because that would be too much to ask of the L&O gods).

The episode that was on earlier where Bratt's character was accused of having an affair.

My favorite Lennyism, from Episode 6-122 ("Rebels"):

After Curtis nearly gets himself and Briscoe in an altercation with a LARGE group of bad-ass bikers
Briscoe: Ray, just what the hell was that?
Curtis: You don't get any respect unless you're willing to kick a little ass.
Briscoe: Oh, I would respect the hell out of those guys if they kicked our asses.

CLASSIC!

I loved Chris Noth on that show (aka Logan). Him and Briscoe were the best team ever. I really like Ben Stone too, but unfortuneatly, he got into a bar fight not too far from my house and had the cops arrest him hehe. Ah well.

OK, I found my favorite Lennyism :)

Van Buren: Wives always shoot husbands? Do you happen to have a motive?
Lennie: He's 56, she's 26. He's rich, she's gorgeous. I gotta be a genius?
