Actually it is a society wide mechanism for lawyers to make a lot of money.

What a hilarious and constructive quip! Those devil lawyers, sure is a crying shame people have the option of remedying their harms with no up front cost! It would be better if they were all shot, am I right?

"The injury is usually attributed to money the consumer lost through a purchase that would not have been made had the advertisement not been misleading."

So...

Yeah, that was a pretty big fail on my part, asking if he read something that I clearly failed to properly read ;p Sorry about that, digitaldurandal (and everyone else who had to see me being an idiot)

I still think injury is a bad term, but you're right that they clearly and unambiguously explained that it wasn't physical injury.

Then you certainly wouldn't insist on having a lawyer if you were arrested, right?

cmom man lighten up. Everybody is entitled to the occasional lawyer joke. If you read my entire post you would see that my main point is that a class action suit seems extreme to me for a case like this, and that the rhetoric has gotten out of control.

Honestly which is worse between the two?
- A company that falsely advertises their product and takes your money, or,
- Lawyers who will help you fight a case with no money out of your pocket.

Hmm, not that hard is it? In this case, i think people are getting their feathers ruffled a wee bit unnecessarily about the lawyers i guess. For what it is worth, they have to do some work, pay some people who will do some work for them, and there are costs involved. Are they getting more than their own pound of flesh? Why yes... but then you're not out of money from your pocket, are you?

disclaimer:
By the way, i don't exactly like lawyers myself. The original weasels as i'd like to say, and ones who try to drain you till you have nothing left to fatten their wallets.

I thought you were serious -- chalk it up to internets text issues

I can tell you've never had any actual professional dealings with lawyers then. Maybe personal injury lawyers are like this but that's hardly the norm. That's like saying all white people are trailer trash and insane clown posse fans because the bottom of the barrel are the trailer trash ICP fans...
