Law and Order: CI...does the female detective actually DO anything?

I have never understood why she is even there. I wonder why she doesn't complain to the writer about it.

She might as well just stay at her desk most of the show.

I've wondered that too. The show would be better if it were just Private Pyle, but he has to drag her ass along with him all the time. She just sits there like a bump on a log. The only time she has even been REMOTELY useful is when they have gone somewhere undercover as husband or wife...other than that, she's USELESS

C'mon everyone, she does have a purpose! (And I can't believe you all have missed it!)

She tags along so that her partner can explain everything to her so that we, the audience, understand his deductions!

If he were alone he'd just go around solving crimes and we'd be like, "How the hell did he figure that out?"

That's how it is in real-life. It's MEN who do things, who solve problems, who change the world. All women do is follow men around and look pretty. Besides, the woman should be at home making babies, not playing cops and robbers
