Is this still the 'best' spyware detection and removal tool that is readily available.

(Seems like they haven't updated the reference file for a while and) I haven't really looked for alternatives

As far as I know it is... I haven't actually heard/looked for alternatives though.

its only been 2 months since an update...not bad for a free program.

I wasn't complaining. Just been kind of blindly trusting it and wondered if it was still considered 'the best' (freebie)
