Does anyone know where to find these or even what I am talking about. I found an example of one a few weeks back, and the thing has been stuck in my head ever since. It is like a mix between a cathode and a strobe light and one of those crystal ball things that when you put your hand on it, the "lighting" shoots out to your fingers. I hope I explained that right. Anyhoo, any ideas where to pick one up or find more information? Thanks in advance.

in the hot deals forum there's a post about lava lamps and that site had tons of other lighting effects, some of which appear to be what you're describing. I posted a reply to it recently about a borg lightning toy.

Doh! I am retarded. Sorry, you found exactly what I described, but not what I meant. Thanks for the reply though. The piece that I am looking for is for a case mod. It is like a cathode in that it is an elongated tube which is often placed along the lower wall of a case in order to provide a lighted effect. Needless to say, I spent a few hours looking on the web, and ended up finding the original post over on HardForum. It even has a short video file for download if any of you want to see what I am talking about. Here are some links.

Original Post at HardForum:

Edit: Dammit, I lost the link again. LoL. I have the file saved on my computer at school, I will bring it home and post it on Monday.

Enjoy!

Well that globe with the "lightning" that goes to your fingers, I think that's called a plasma globe or something like that. Those things might put out a LOT of EM and/or electrostatic radiation, which might not be good around a computer. ;)
