I remember when I got a lava lamp for 48 cents. Yes, that's right, 48 cents.

A Spencer's gifts had a huge gumball machine outside of their store with a sign on it that said "Get a spotted jawbreaker and win a free lava lamp" or something of the sort. I looked around in the machine and saw what it looked like, went to the candy store at the other end of the mall, and bought the jawbreaker for 23 cents. I went back to Spencer's, popped a quarter in the machine, watched the gumball rolldown, and bent down and switched it with the jawbreaker I just purchased. Took it to the cashier, and BAM. 48 cents for a lava lamp.

Sure, it's pretty devious of me, but they never said I had to get the jawbreaker from their gumball machine ;)

That's a great story. But better yet, that was a great idea to switch gumballs. I would have never thought of that, but the next time I see an opportunity, I won't miss it. Thanks!!

The restaurant I work in part time has a gumball machine with gumballs in it that say "winner" on them... I have access to all the winning gumballs I want (and if I open the gumball machine to eat a gumball, these are the ones I eat first, since giving out the free slice of pizza and small drink is a hassle sometimes.)

Anyway, I've noticed other places that have "winner" gumballs.... Maybe I should keep a few extra of varying colors in my glove compartment :D

If this was a full sized lava lamp this would be hot but this is one of the smaller ones which can be found very often for $9.99-$14.99.
