Laundry

so i come downstairs and start up the laundry machine, letting the water and soap mix together. i go to the computer and browse a few threads and completely forgot to put my clothes in the machine! just ran to the laundry room, and yep it completely ran the cycle empty.

i'm having one of those days!

My washer and dryer are in the basement so normally its the other way... put some clothes in to wash... go browse or play... then suddenly remember like 2-3 hours later that there is clothes in the washer.... its even worse for the dryer... cause then they are all wrinkled up... aghhh... but on the good side, I get plenty of exercise... bout 10 loads a week.... done over the weekend...

Um, you're supposed to put the clothes in BEFORE the water.

Oh really?
In fact, I was just reading an article (Consumer Reports, I think?) which said that many Americans don't get their clothes as clean as they could because of poor sorting, overloading and not following the simple water -> detergent -> clothes steps of doing wash.

the proper way to do laundry:

-select temp (i always use warm wash, rinse cold)
-start water
-add soap
add clothes just as the cycle is about to kick in

i've been doing laundry since i was 10 years old 😀

I would have done this quite a few times, but my washer won't continue past when it has filled with water until you close the lid.

Hmmmm.. my favorite method is the following

Stuff dirty laundry into hefty garbage sacks

open the front door when the doorbell rings

press some long cool green into the hands of the pimply faced
driver at the door.

point pimply faced driver to said Hefty Laundry sacks

Laundry comes back, clean and folded the next day 😀

Not all of us are rich like you Baff...

Also, I wouldn't think you'd enjoy handing a bag full of your under-things to a pimply faced boy would be the smartest thing in the world. Do you think thats "starch" they use??? 😉

That's what all the spoiled New York kids do here at U of M.

Us Michigan residents tough it out in the basement laundry rooms twice a week 😛.

Aren't you the one who talks in a movie theater? A movie that everyone coughs up like $7.00 per person to watch, and you're wondering why they tell you to STFU? Uh, no sympathy for the $ down the drain here!

Time=money and paying to have my laundry done is far cheaper than missing a few hours of work to do it myself during busy weeks at work.

As far as fine washables, those of course are done at home 🙂

The male way to do the laundry:

-Throw clothes into the washer up to but not past the point just before which the washer will overflow and flood the room
-Dump soap into machine without using the measuring cup
-Select "Cold/Cold" because you don't bother to sort colors
-When washer is finished, stuff three loads of wash into a single drier
-Throw all clothes back into the hamper without folding, consider ironing them sometime later in the week

I usually leave the lid open so I can let the soap dissolve. It'll fill and stuff but it wont start the wash cycle til you close the lid.

I wish I had a washer. I have to drive 25 miles.

Stupid 200 year old house!

this is how the story ends...so a few hours later i remember that i had laundry to "redo"...and i say that in quotes because it was never done to begin with...open the lid of the washer and take a peak inside--it was so shiny and clean! yeahhhhhh i meant to wash it out. 😛 anyhoo, wash my clothes, open the dryer and there's a nice spider sitting in there. since i had to open a new box of tide, i used the cardboard strip that i ripped off to open it and coaxed mr. spider out. decided on second thought i'm not putting my clothes in there and hung them instead. *sigh!*
