Laundry sucks

I just wanted to say that. I wish I had the cash to get a washer and drier for our apartment. I could get a free washer from my roommate's parents, but it's half busted and leaves lint on everything. Nobody else seems to understand why I don't like that.

So I'm stuck going to the laundromat. I tend to not like doing it often, so I end up with absolutely no clean clothes to wear and I have to wash them all. However this is more efficient because it takes the same amount of time no matter how much I have to wash (half hour for the wash, an hour for the dry; the only extra time for more clothes is the time it takes to load them).

So basically I've got about 8 loads of laundry I have to haul to the laundromat now (and several of those are loads requiring the triple load machines). For the wash and dry cycles, this is going to cost about 25 to 30 dollars depending on how long I put them in to dry.

I'm not even sure I can fit all this in my car.

My time is worthless on weekends, so... :) I spend most of my weekend time complaining about how bored I am.

I will get a washer and dryer when I have the money. I tend to blow my wad on other stuff though, so a one-time output of 600 to 800 dollars is a bit much for me. Of course I'm spending 15 to 30 dollars every 2 to 3 weeks for the laundromat, so in the long run the w/d is cheaper, but it's the old catch-22 that a lot of people hit for w/d purchase: can't not do laundry until you save up for the purchase, but you can't save for it if you're paying to do the laundry. I could finance it, but I'm loathe to do that for reasons I can't really determine myself.

I do make enough money that buying a washer and dryer isn't a huge purchase for me, except that I throw away a lot of cash. I've just finished paying off my vacation on my credit card, and have about 900 left on another card that needs to be paid, past that I'll be saving more than I spend and it won't be a problem. Except that I'm also trying to save up for a down payment on a new car, though that won't happen till after the new year (assuming the world still exists since it will be the true turn of the millennium).

You guys are lucky.
Some people can only change their cloths twice a year and when they do change, they flip the inner side of the cloths to the outside and wear them the next half year.

You also have a better chance of making new friends <wink, wink> at the laundromat

I knew I was a grown up when my little sister in law started doing her laundry at my house.

One day, this will happen to you!

:)

All my relatives live in Florida, I live in Massachusetts. :) Nobody stopping by to do laundry here (though my roommates' families might).

I'm too introverted and have too much of an inferiority complex to try to talk to anybody at the laundromat. Plus the first time I was there I saw a seriously sad thing: some guy in socks and sandals, with a 70's haircut and those huge prescription sunglasses from the 80's, following the attendant around as she cleaned up, for the entire 2 hours I was there. I never want anybody to see me in any similar situation. :) I have seen some very attractive people there though.

just wear the same clothes over and over until they smell unbearable...

There are nifty inventions such as Febreeze(sp?), deoderant, and cologne. I don't do this b/c I have my own washer and dryer :)
