Launch date for GTX 480/470 March 26

So has anyone done an analysis on the various DX11 games with respect to how they are programmed? Which ones will challenge the tessellation capabilities of Fermi the most?

that is VERY strange for the nvidia PR machine to drop the ball with this announcement.

I find it far more likely that they paper launch or, at best, maybe a dell/paper launch like we saw from amd last sept. If they were going to have tons in channel on mar 26 they would have been shouting it at the top of their lungs this morning; the fact that they waited to clarify until after the immense negative web buzz makes it look like they're in damage control mode.

Of course, as a car salesman I am in awe of them. These guys are real pros!

You would think that since it's only a month away, they would at least have some cards to send out to review sites. This is what has me worried still.

I think ~600 for the GTX480. There were some rumors going around for $299. And a guy on tweakers said Euro channel prices were 199 & 299 euros. However, that seems way too low of a figure to me.

I say $449 & $599 at newegg.

With the problems they are surely having making enough chips to even make a decent amount of them, I don't think they will be priced cheap at all.

I think more likely there will be a very limited number launched into the retail market on the 26th (in the thousands) that will be snapped up in a matter of minutes and they'll trickle out over the next few months after until they can get their manufacturing/distribution problems settled.

nah I don't see AMD prices as any kind of limit. Even if it loses out to the 5970 it's a single chip with PhysX, CUDA, and can eventually do 3d surround (ooh aah so many features!).
Anyways even if performance is about the same as a 5870 I think nvidia will just hype the hell out of it and charge what they want.

Yea which sucks. I'm an Nvidia fan and only bought a 5870 cus I got tired of waiting. If they really are that much more powerful and price well then I'll sell my 5870 but if they are only ~10% faster and much more expensive, I'll stick with this card.

They will probably sell above MSRP for the limited quantities available in March, no matter what the performance.

You'll probably have to wait until well into April to get a competitively priced one, unless they seriously over perform the Radeon HD5800 series.

Usually it's MSRP when first introduced (even at etailers like Newegg) and shortly thereafter they start hiking up the prices. That's why if you plan on buying it's good to get in on the first round or be prepared to wait to pay MSRP.
