Latitude C610 CPU _downgrade_ capability

I've got a Latitude C610 motherboard recently that doesn't have a CPU, I'm not sure if this motherboard is good, was looking at buying a super-cheap CPU to test with.

Will a Mobile P3 600mhz CPU work in this board?

My (other) curently working Latitude C610 has a Mobile P3 1.2Ghz CPU.

It's a PIII-m that you need. The 600mhz CPUs aren't compatible -- voltage or connector. Here is a breakdown of the PIII-Ms:

I did see a 1.2ghz but the guy wanted $154!

Atleast w/ 2 batteries you can still get 6+ hours.

Why don't you take out the CPU from your other C610 to try it?

I'm not 100% sure that this C610 motherboard is good. I've fried a CPU in the past by trying to test an 'iffie' motherboard, and I'd hate to render a good system useless by testing with parts out of it.

If anyone wants to donate a spare Mobile P3 CPU for testing purposes, I'd be glad to return it when the job is done.

update: gave in and took the good CPU out of my working C610, questionable motherboard is verified working.
