Hmm... it appeas that latex paint is used for body painting too, so I guess I can dismiss brain/lung damage since it wouldn't be safe otherwise... I'm still not going to sleep in there tonight, however. :p

I've heard that too much coverage (body painting) for a prolonged period can kill you. Not sure if it has anything to do with the chemicals or whatnot.
See mythbusters, the television program. It won't kill you but it does have some odd physical effects.

I've watched that show a few times. I remember them putting dough in a car and heating it up until it exploded.

See the dead pigs episode where they let them rot in a corvette for a month or so. Awesome fun.

Odd physical effects? Anything permanent from one night's exposure?

Nothing you'd probably notice. Your penis will likely fall off, but no worries.

Mythbusters looked at body painting, not inhaling paint fumes. Just don't sleep in there tonight. It's probably too late to save your brain cells since you keep asking about it though.

Yes, that was what my dad was saying, but I still wasn't fully convinced about having no debilitating effects if I were to sleep in my room.

Latex paint is water based with water semi-soluble plasticizers (sp?) to help the paint not dry to quickly so that it forms an even coating/layer. The plasticizers are stuff like ethylene glycol, and other gylcols and there's other mildly violatile chemicals in there too but in extremely small amounts. Paint is formulated to dry in stages and typically doesn't completely set for days even though it may be dry to the touch after an hour or two.

It will not make you higher than a mother...thats oil based, urethanes, and solvent based epoxy paints that do that. I doubt that sleeping in the room will hurt you at all...but I think some gylcols can cause feeling of nausea in some people. If your uncomfortable sleeping in that room, don't...if nothing else, you'll sleep better not having to worry.

As a few people mentioned Latex paint is water based and should not pose any health problems. I believe there are some Latex paint that have very low odor to be used in areas that are occupied during painting.
