LaTeX is awesome.

Wrote my master's thesis with it 🙂

There's also some plug-ins for word that let you enter equations in LaTeX format, which for me is faster than the built in equation editor. There's also some nice graphical front ends for it, such as Scientific Workplace.

I wish I would have been forced to write in LaTeX from the get in grad school. I plan to write the dissertation in LaTeX, especially since there is a class file for our school's formatting guidelines.

I need to learn. I wrote all my analysis homework this past semester by hand...god did that suck.
