2 debates down and one to go....

Oct. 11 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush led John Kerry by 5 percentage points among likely voters in a Washington Post daily tracking poll. A Reuters/Zogby International poll taken during the same period showed the candidates about even.

Bush is supported by 51 percent of 1,438 likely voters, compared with 46 percent for Kerry, the four-term senator from Massachusetts, according to the Post survey Oct. 6-9. The poll samples potential voters each day and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Kerry was backed by 46 percent of 1,216 likely voters to Bush's 45 percent in the Reuters/Zogby tracking poll conducted Oct. 7-9, which has an error margin of 2.9 percentage points.

An ABC News tracking poll Oct. 6-9 of 1,589 likely voters showed Bush leading Kerry 50 percent to 46 percent, with an error margin of 2.5 points. The Washington Post and ABC collect their data jointly, though they use separate methods to identify likely voters.

The candidates participated in the second of three debates Oct. 8 and will meet for their final debate Oct. 13 in Arizona.

I think it does include the 2nd debate, IIRC, it said all of these polls were completed in a day, so im "assuming" they were done either saturday or sunday, but I could be wrong.

2nd debate "boost"? LMAO!!

BTW, remember, Zogby was the only pollster who showed a slight Gore edge in the popular vote last election.

And, check out these:

Today the threee largest papers in their respective swing states endorsed Kerry: The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Portland PRess-Herald in Maine.

Yesterday Kerry also picked up the backing of three large papers: The Oregonian in the other Portland (which had backed President Bush in 2000), the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

You mean the debate from three days ago? Is there some sort of delayed "boost"? Additionally, most figured the second debate came out about even, so I doubt either candidate will get much of a change in the polls.

Obviously. Even setting aside the liberal media routine, newspapers are written in urban areas which are typically democratic strongholds. Democratic welfare and social spending has attracted the poor in droves. Who wouldn't vote for the guy who gives you free money?

Geocities?

Just read the links there and the election models provided.

I did. Your first link doesn't work, your 2nd link looks like it is made by a middle school web page design student. It looks like it links to another page with a bunch of rambling nonsense about polls.

Polls this year have been pretty much worthless. Nuff said.

What dismissal? By the author's own numbers, the incumbent loses an average of .5 pts, while the challenger picks up 4 points, totaling a 4.5 pt swing. Not high enough to overcome Bush's 5 pt lead that the author himself cites.

Most of his state polling figures are already out of date. The author also leaves out the rather significant fact that there are very few undecided voters this time around.

We don't even have "final polls" for Bush and Kerry. Such an analysis might be worth looking at very close to election day, but not right now.

Off topic, but can you vote this election, lordtyranus? You'll be old enough by Nov 2nd, but you weren't old enough by the registration deadline. How does that work?

You check a box saying that you turn 18 before election day.

My dad helped do most of the paperwork, he is a Bush fan. Interestingly enough, my mom is an RBH, so I get to see both sides. It's quite obvious which is the more intelligent of the two. ;)

That's not what you said here:

Bush is winning nearly every poll in the 2nd link. I actually want Kerry to think he is at a dead heat. It's good for us if he underestimates Bush.

Or here:

Bush's approval is pretty high, and he is leading in the polls. Perhaps he is listening to his citizens, and the libs are trying to terrorize society?

Osama must be a Democrat.

Or here:

Do you think Kerry's ads are any cleaner? He is desperate because he is behind in the polls.

That's for polls to tell. The debates are close enough together that you really don't get a bounce from the first 2.

Kerry didn't win by enough to overtake Bush's lead.

Or here:

Why does everything have to be a conspiracy with you libs? It's almost as if this is the X files.

Did he cheat? Technically. Do I care? Not really.

If Bush had pulled out a piece of paper like that, the Bush haters would be ranting on about it. I guess that is the difference between you and I.

The libs here have already accused Bush of wearing an earpiece,.. Can't come right out and say cheating, though, gotta ease into it, run it up the flagpole, see who salutes...

You guys are getting desperate, the talking points more bizarre, more obfuscatory as time goes on... Guess that's what happens when you are behind in the polls.

You caught me. I'm a bush fanboi with no brains.

On some of those I was trolling. On the others, well, its obvious that the polls that you like are the more important ones, huh?;)
