Note, you must signup for developer access on Nvidia, then, they will give you a invite.
So, there is no public repository per se, it is only for the people that sign up.

To access the GitHub repository, simply join the NVIDIA GameWorks Developer Program and accept the click-through EULA for PhysX source code. Full details can be found here.

In order to be part of the GameWorks dev program you need to work for a company. So it's as open source as the Mantle SDK, aka only available to devs that get into the program.

So you have to sign up at a website, be on a special list, and can't use it for most things. Takes the "open" out of it. Sounds more like licensing.

Then what is it?

It's not open source.

Free for verified partners.

It is source accessible. The source code is available for free to all who go through the proper channels, and they are free to modify the code as they see fit for their game / software. I do believe only Nvidia has the authority to update it for public reconsumption, though. I do not believe another company can modify physx and then share their modifications without Nvidia's consent.

Does this finally mean PhysX can be made to work with any GPU? I have my doubts but wondering...

If it is possible to run PhysX code on another GPU it will be up to the devs to make that possible since no 3rd party (Intel and AMD) has the right to see or touch the code.

Assuming the devs are even allowed to do such a thing. We don't know the restrictions on usage.

It isn't open source. People who pay money to license it get access to the source code, like the Unreal Engine. Misleading thread title.

I copied and pasted the title of the website page. Take it up with NV if you think it's misleading.
